Singaporean telecommunications operator StarHub has entered into a carriage deal with rival with the country's state broadcaster, Mediacorp.

Through a strategic tie-up between the two parties that was unveiled today, Mediacorp will carry content packages from StarHub TV+ on the mewatch streaming service.

From a sporting perspective, this will entail mewatch offering live properties such as English soccer's top-tier Premier League to its customers.

In total, there will be "over 7,000 hours of live sports," StarHub has said, with that total including - aside from the Premier League - "racket sports, cricket, and golf."

StarHub holds Premier League rights through a deal unveiled in early 2022, which covers six seasons in total, through the 2027-28 campaign.

StarHub airs games through its StarHub TV+, mobile, and broadband platforms, and additionally provides on-demand match replays. The firm shows all 380 matches per season.

Nikhil Eapen, StarHub's chief executive, has now said: "At StarHub, we are determined to make technology and media work better for people. By joining forces with Mediacorp, we are bringing audiences the widest, most exciting portfolio of content. From global sporting spectacles to local favourites, in ways that are simple, flexible, and accessible."

Tham Loke Kheng, Mediacorp's CEO, added: "With our combined strengths, we will be able to deliver a richer entertainment experience to our audiences in Singapore, while advertisers will gain access to the most comprehensive suite of solutions across TV, digital, and data-driven platforms for the most effective campaign outcomes."
