UK pay-TV sports channel Premier Sports has further expanded its media rights portfolio through the acquisition of the rights to the top-flight of Argentine and Brazilian soccer.

Premier Sports will showcase two matches per gameweek from each of the two elite competitions, the Argentine Primera and the Brazilian Serie A, for the remainder of the 2025 campaign.

These games will be available on both the Premier Sports linear channels and the Premier Sports Player OTT service, which is carried on a number of major TV and streaming platforms such as Prime Video.

This will include marquee fixtures such as Argentina’s iconic Superclasico between Boca Juniors and River Plate, and numerous other major fixtures in Brazil from sides such as Palmeiras, Santos, Corinthians, Sao Paulo, and more.

Premier Sports recently also struck to add the rights to two matches per gameweek from Dutch soccer’s top-flight Eredivisie to further bolster its wide-ranging portfolio, which also includes the top-flights of Scotland (as well as its two cup competitions), and Spain.

The rights to the Argentine Primera and Brazilian Serie A are both being sold by South American sports and media agency 1190 Sports.

1190 chief Hernan Donnari spoke to Sportcal recently, and highlighted the difficulties in securing rights agreements for properties such as the Serie A, as well as the complexities of the modern media industry and how the agency is looking to sell its rights with maximum reach.

In securing the two prominent leagues, Premier Sports has increased its season soccer portfolio to over 800 games each year.

Outside of soccer, Premier Sports has also grown its focus on rugby union in recent months, establishing a dedicated rugby channel across its platforms.
