Global subscription streaming service DAZN has snapped up exclusive rights to the next three seasons of German soccer's Bundesliga.
Through the 2025-26, 2026-27, and 2027-28 campaigns, DAZN now has rights to cover all nine Bundesliga matches per gameweek, across all 34 rounds. A deal to that effect, struck with the Bundesliga International arm of the 18-team league, was unveiled earlier today (August 8).
In addition to the Bundesliga, DAZN will also cover action from the season-opening German Supercup on August 16, in which Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich will take on VfB Stuttgart, who won the DFB-Pokal cup competition last season.
The streaming platform also covers the German league domestically, through 2028-29.
Last season, Bundesliga action in Japan was covered by sports streaming platform Abema, through a sub-licensing tie-up with original rights-holder Sky PerfecTV (whose deal expired at the end of 2024-25).
Players from the country currently attached to Bundesliga clubs include Bayern Munich's Hiroki Itō and Eintracht Frankfurt's new signing Ritsu Dōan.
Peer Naubert, Bundesliga International's chief executive, has said: "A total of 10 Japanese players have transferred to Bundesliga or Bundesliga 2 clubs in the summer of 2025 alone. With DAZN as our trusted partner, we're excited to bring the stories of these local stars even closer to fans across the country - with world-class football, authentic storytelling, and a viewing experience tailored to the Japanese audience."
In terms of recent Bundesliga media rights activity, earlier this week, the league announced a four-season renewal with pay-TV heavyweight Sky Italia.
Sky Italia will maintain its status as the Bundesliga's exclusive TV partner in that market for the next four seasons - with the tie-up extending across the Bundesliga, the second-tier Bundesliga 2, the Supercup, and the end-of-season Bundesliga relegation playoffs.
The new Bundesliga season will begin on August 22, with defending champions Bayern Munich taking on RB Leipzig in the opening game.
Domestically, the league will be covered live by Sky Deutschland and DAZN.
Late July saw DAZN Japan disclose an extension of its rights deal with Belgium's top-tier Pro League.
DAZN Japan also holds rights to other European soccer leagues, including those in Spain, Italy, and France.
