Sports production and live streaming firm Sportway Media Group (SMG) has acquired sports-focused direct-to-consumer (DTC) video tech company Sportall through its Sportway content and data management arm.

Sportall, which is based in Paris, France, will continue to operate under Sportway’s French business but will integrate its OTT streaming solutions across Sportway’s product portfolio to enhance its offering.

This acquisition will not only allow Sportway access to Sportall’s DTC technology but also its livestreaming software and fan engagement tools.

It will also enter Sportway into several new industries via Sportall’s substantial partnership portfolio.

A wide-ranging streaming and distribution platform, Sportall already has partnerships with a number of prominent sports properties, including the FIA World Endurance Championship, the Association of National Olympic Committees, and World Squash.

Speaking on the acquisition, SMG founder and chair Jonas Persson commented: “Following the great success we’ve had with French ice hockey, we are thrilled to expand our footprint in France through this strategic acquisition.

“Sportall’s innovative D2C technology and strong relationships across the French sports ecosystem make it a perfect complement to Sportway’s global streaming platform. Together, we’ll continue to push the boundaries of how sports content is produced, distributed, and experienced by fans.”

Sportway co-founder and chief executive, Daniel Franck, added: “Sportway is growing fast and the acquisition of Sportall is an important step towards strengthening our position as the leading provider of live streaming solutions in Europe.

“By combining our strengths, we have an unparalleled capacity to address unique rights holders’ needs and create growth opportunities for our clients as well.”

Besides Sportway, SMG’s sports content and data management business, SMG also owns sports production company MyGame, streaming solutions business Live Arena Sports, and in-venue digital advertising firm Acticom.
