The nascent Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) US women’s ice hockey competition has unveiled US broadcast agreements with Fox, Paramount, Scripps, Gray Media, and Tegna.
These tie-ups were disclosed yesterday, with the eight-team PWHL 2025-26 season set to get underway on November 21 (Friday).
The aforementioned broadcasters will all cover the PWHL Takeover Tour, in which regular-season games are taken to cities outside the home markets of the competing teams.
In terms of national coverage of the Takeover Tour games taking place in the US, Tegna will show games in Denver, Scripps will cover action in Detroit, while Fox-owned stations will air the games in Chicago, Dallas, and Washington DC.
In addition to these deals with national networks, each of the four US teams in the league - Boston, Minnesota, New York, and Seattle - will be covered by regional sports networks, through agreements with NESN, MSG Networks, and FanDuel Sports Network.
These regional sports networks will cover all 30 home team games on their range of channels.
Amy Scheer, executive vice president of business operations at the PWHL, has said: "By working with an incredible mix of broadcast and digital partners across North America, we’re ensuring fans everywhere can experience the speed, skill, and intensity of PWHL hockey. This approach allows us to continue expanding our audience, to strengthen local connections, and showcase our world-class athletes on the biggest possible stage.”
Internationally, meanwhile, all games will be shown live through the PWHL's YouTube channel and through the league's online platform, except in Canada, Czech Republic, and Slovakia.
In Canada, games will be shown by a combination of the TSN and RDS Bell Media-owned broadcasters (TSN is English language while RDS provides French coverage), CBC/Radio-Canada, and the Amazon Prime Video streaming service.
Fans in Czech Republic and Slovakia, meanwhile, will be able to watch the action through Nova Sport.
The upcoming 2025-26 PWHL season features two expansion teams - the Seattle Torrent and the Vancouver Goldeneyes.
Seattle and Vancouver are PWHL’s first two west coast locations, expanding the league markedly beyond its previous market area.
