Spanish men's soccer's top-tier LaLiga has set media rights tender processes in motion across three central European territories, potentially covering a five-year cycle.
The 20-team league has issued two requests for offers, one covering broadcast rights in Romania and the other for rights in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Both processes can cover up to five seasons, from 2026-27 to potentially the end of 2030-31.
The tenders went live on June 17 (Tuesday), and cover all LaLiga games each season - the chosen partner will have to commit to showing at least three of the 10 games each matchday - as well as all matches from the second-tier Segunda Division and every single promotion playoff encounter from that league.
The rights are being offered on an exclusive basis and may be transmitted on either pay television or via free-to-air TV.
Bidders must submit the relevent documentation and forms to the audiovisualrights@laliga.es address by midday (Central European Time) on July 15.
LaLiga has said it will make a provisional award for these rights around July 22, and is looking to sign a binding agreement in the days following that date.
Queries about the tender may be submitted to the Spanish soccer competition up until July 1.
Action from the 2024-25 LaLiga campaign was shown in Romania by Digi Sport, and across the Czech Republic and Slovakia by Nova Sports.
These tenders have been issued without broadcasters having yet been secured in those markets for the 2025-26 LaLiga season.
The list of players from the trio of countries attached to LaLiga clubs includes the likes of Espanyol's Alex Kral, Mallorca's Martin Valjent, and Andrei Rațiu for Rayo Vallecano.
In terms of recent LaLiga media rights activity, meanwhile, global sports streaming service DAZN unveiled extensions to existing agreements in Belgium, Germany, and Austria last month, and also added Switzerland as a new market.
Domestically, meanwhile, the vast majority of LaLiga action next season will be shown live by a combination of DAZN and Movistar, through deals that came into effect in 2022-23 and which run through the 2026-27 season.
