International sailing series SailGP has brought on board David Gillett as its new head of broadcast and media rights.

Gillett, who has been head of media rights at off-road racing series Extreme E (now Extreme H) since October 2022, replaces fellow industry veteran Tom Gracey at SailGP - Gracey joined US golf's top-tier PGA Tour at the end of June.

The new SailGP hire announced his move via LinkedIn earlier this week.

He said: "Delighted to join SailGP and help to build on the incredible work of Tom Gracey and Melissa Lawton [SailGP's chief content officer] across the first five seasons of this thrilling series.

"Also, a huge thank you to all at Extreme H for a brilliant three years redefining off-road racing, in which we demonstrably advanced sustainability and female participation in motorsport."

Before taking that role with the electric motor racing series in 2022, Gillett was the commercial and marketing director at the iconic Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgium for 18 months. Prior to that position, he spent three years at the IMG agency as strategic partnerships director for the FIA World Rallycross competition.

Other roles held include time spent at Formula 1 and Pitch International.

In terms of recent Extreme H media rights deals, earlier this month the series added UK commercial broadcaster ITV to its growing list of rights partners as it prepares to launch - in its new format - later this year.

Under the multi-year deal, ITV will air Extreme H live across its ITV4 linear channel and ITVX streaming platform, starting with this year’s inaugural Extreme H World Cup.

For SailGP, meanwhile, significant broadcast partners include CBS in the US, Foxtel and SBS in Australia, TNT Sports in the UK, Movistar Plus in Spain, and Germany's ZDF.

The 2025 SailGP season heads to Germany next, in mid-August.
