Scottish soccer’s SPFL organizing body has renewed its partnership with video game company EA Sports, extending its licensing agreement for the EA Sports FC (EAFC) line of video games on multi-year terms.

Beginning with the upcoming EAFC 26 release (set for September 26), the Scottish top-flight Premiership and its 12 teams will continue to feature in the series, covering both the primary releases and associated mobile games.

This will include Scottish giants Rangers and Celtic, both of whose home stadiums will also appear in the game.

EA Sports revealed that in the previous edition of the series, EAFC 25, Scottish sides were used in 16 million matches.

Speaking on the extension, SPFL Group chief executive, Neil Doncaster, commented: “This new deal helps bring our league to new generations of supporters right across the world, and it’s positive to hear how popular our teams have been with players across the globe.”

EAFC was launched in September 2023 as a replacement for the developer’s FIFA series following the conclusion of its partnership with soccer’s international governing body.

Recently, EA Sports also tied up English heavyweights Chelsea and, for the first time, their associated women's team, as well as German giants FC Bayern Munich, who were previously partnered with Konami, and secured a new marketing partnership with English soccer's FA governing body, consolidating the pair’s renewed licensing agreement.

Other recent club partnerships and licensing renewals include Atletico Madrid, River Plate, Racing Club, OL Lyonnes, and more, while competition renewals include the Barclays Women’s Super League, Arkema Première Ligue, UEFA Women’s Champions League, UEFA Women’s Euros, and the Belgian Pro League.
