DAZN secures UK, US distribution deal with Prime Video

DAZN will require a $30-per-month subscription on top of the $9 customers pay for a Prime Video package.

Global sports subscription service DAZN has launched its main channel on the Amazon Prime Video streaming service in the UK and the US.

This adds to the existing distribution partnerships between DAZN and Prime Video in France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Canada.

In terms of pricing, DAZN will require a $30-per-month subscription on top of the $9 customers currently pay per month for a Prime Video package.

The deal means that - for those who pay - over 185 boxing fight nights annually will be available to Prime Video subscribers in the UK and US, as well as action from Italian soccer's top-tier Serie A and all LIV Golf events.

In terms of major sports rights already held by Prime Video, meanwhile, the service holds rights in the US to Thursday Night Football from the NFL, European soccer's UEFA Champions League in the UK, and action from basketball's NBA (globally).

Shay Segev, chief executive at the overall DAZN Group, commented: "With more than 185 fights per year, hundreds of football matches, basketball games, and more, we’re delighted to showcase the breadth of offerings and content DAZN has to offer to even more audiences. It’s another step forward in bringing the best that sport has to offer to fans across the globe.”

Other subscriptions available to Prime Video customers in the US and/or UK, meanwhile, include HBO Max, Peacock, Fox One, discovery+, Apple TV, and Paramount+.

In terms of recent Prime Video activity, in late October, the service acquired the global rights to the National Football League’s (NFL) showpiece Black Friday fixture.

The game, which will see the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles take on the Chicago Bears, will take place on the titular holiday day (November 28), with Prime Video now to showcase it in over 240 global markets.

This marks Prime Video’s first global rights for an NFL game, although the concept isn’t new, with the league having tested it earlier in the year with YouTube’s global rights for the Brazil international game, and even in 2024, when Netflix aired the global broadcast for the NFL’s Christmas Day games.
