The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has expanded its media rights agreement with BG Sports in Thailand through 2029.

The deal, which builds on the initial broadcast partnership from September 2024 that saw BG Sports acquire selected competitions from 2024 to 2029, now confirms the broadcaster as the home for all AFC competitions in Thailand with the addition of all remaining national team and women’s club competitions taking place from 2025-26 to 2028-29.

The existing deal with BG Sports includes the AFC Asian Qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the 2024-25 to 2028-29 seasons of both the AFC Champions League Elite and AFC Champions League Two club competitions, and the inaugural AFC Women’s Champions League 2024-25.

In the new contract, the broadcaster will be showing all matches involving Thai teams as well as additional fixtures from the AFC Women’s Champions League (2025-26 to 2028-29), 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup, 2027 AFC Asian Cup, and the AFC Women’s Olympic Qualifying tournament for the 2028 games in Los Angeles.

The agreement additionally includes several youth competitions: AFC U23 Asian Cup (2026 and 2028), AFC U20 Asian Cup 2027, AFC U17 Asian Cup (2026, 2027, and 2028) AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup (2026 and 2028) AFC U17 Women's Asian Cup (2026, 2027, and 2028) and AFC Futsal Asian Cup (2026 and 2028).

All matches will be shown live on the BG Sports YouTube channel. In addition, the Thai broadcaster will be expanding its coverage through linear free TV broadcast of key matches of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup taking place in Saudi Arabia.

The renewed deal was brokered by Asia Football Group, the commercial partner of the AFC. AFG holds exclusive commercial rights for AFC properties across the 2023-28 cycle.

Patrick Murphy, CEO of Asia Football Group, said: “After a successful partnership with AFC and BG Sports in Thailand, we’re excited to expand this collaboration by securing exclusive rights across the country for AFC competitions.

“Fans can access the sport more easily than ever, making it more engaging and accessible through evolving technology for our supporters in Thailand.”
