The BBC, the UK public-service broadcaster, has agreed a five-year deal to air live matches from soccer’s UEFA Women's Champions League (UWCL) club competition from this season.

As part of the deal, which runs until 2030, up to seven live matches - including the final - will be shown each season across the BBC television channels, BBC iPlayer streaming platform, and the BBC Sport website and app.

Other matches will include both legs of one semi-final and four matches from earlier in the competition.

Highlights from other games will also be available across BBC Sport's digital platforms and social media.

This season, three British clubs will compete in the UWCL - reigning champions Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United.

The BBC’s coverage will begin with Manchester United's match with Paris St-Germain at Old Trafford on November 12, followed by Chelsea's clash with Spanish giants Barcelona on November 20.

BBC Radio 5 Live will also continue to provide live commentary of games throughout the season.

The bulk of UWCL rights in the UK are held by Disney after the US media giant won a rights tender for the competition earlier this year, taking over from international OTT platform DAZN.

The Disney+ OTT streaming service will show all 75 UWCL fixtures each season on a five-year deal, beginning with the upcoming 2025-26 campaign and running through the 2029-30 season.

This deal adds to the BBC’s agreement with UEFA to show highlights from the men’s Champions League during the current 2024-27 three-year cycle, the first time it secured rights to Europe’s elite club competition.

The UWCL will change formats for the 2025-26 campaign, moving to a league phase with 18 sides, followed by a playoff round, increasing the number of games on offer.

The new campaign begins on October 7.
