The All Women's Sports Network (AWSN), founded by US media icon Whoopi Goldberg, has today launched in Saudi Arabia, providing the first 24-hour women’s sports channel in the country.

From today, AWSN will air soccer’s Saudi Women’s Premier League both inside the Kingdom and globally through a partnership with the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) and the Saudi Sports Company (SSC), the country’s main sports broadcaster.

The SSC AWSN channel is available in the territory via the MBC Shahid streaming platform.

The 2025-26 season of the SAFF Women’s Premier League begins tonight, with Al-Ahli facing Neom and Al-Hilal taking on Al-Qadsiah.

Aalia Al Rasheed, head of women’s football at SAFF, said: “The broadcast of the SAFF Women’s Premier League on AWSN is a transformative milestone for women’s football in Saudi Arabia.”

The SSC AWSN channel will feature a prime-time SAFF Women’s Premier League match every week, while also showcasing major international competitions and leagues.

The channel will also include UEFA women’s competitions, the D1 Arkema French League, Swedish Damallsvenskan, and highlights from Italy’s Serie A, Germany’s Bundesliga, France’s Division I Féminine, and the Barclays Women’s Championship in England.

AWSN, which airs more than 2,500 hours of live women’s sports annually, was launched by Goldberg and co-founder George Chung in late 2024, first going live in the US, India, UAE, and the Philippines.

Outside of soccer, it also covers properties such as women's tennis' WTA, and basketball, such as the FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series, and Australian women's WNBL and Super Netball competitions, the latter of which was secured through a deal in June.

Chung, who also serves as CEO, said: “Together, we are breaking barriers by providing global coverage of Saudi women’s sports while introducing to the Kingdom an unprecedented lineup of international leagues and talent. This trilateral cooperation reflects a shared vision of progress and empowerment, and we are very excited to be part of this historic journey”.

AWSN claims to reach over 1 billion homes around the world through a strong network of platforms, including Pluto TV (US, Canada, UK, and Nordics), Amazon Prime Video (US), SuperSport (Africa), Jio TV (India), Jungo Pinoy/Solar Sports (The Philippines), and e& (UAE).
