Australia’s top-tier Women’s National Basketball League will enjoy increased domestic coverage after renewing its partnership with commercial broadcaster Nine Network.

The two-year extension will see all 92 regular season games and the entire final series streamed live on Nine’s 9Now free streaming service, with a weekly match of the round aired on linear channel 9Go!

As part of the deal, the broadcaster will also set up a dedicated hub that will feature full match replays, mini matches, and highlights on 9Now.

The new deal adds to the WNBA’s domestic coverage, which includes all games available on international sports broadcaster ESPN via the Disney+ streaming platform.

That deal includes more than 80 games from the 2025-25 season being aired on the linear ESPN and ESPN2 Networks, which are available in Australia via pay-TV broadcaster Foxtel, its streaming service Kayo, and Fetch TV, as well as pay-TV heavyweight Sky in New Zealand.

For the first time in the league’s 45-year history, every game will also be available via the WNBL’s website and app, with additional behind-the-scenes content, player profiles, and stories featured across the WNBL’s digital and social platforms.

WNBL chief executive Jennie Sager said: “The momentum and hunger for basketball is undeniable, with 1 in 5 girls now playing basketball in Australia.

“Our new broadcast deals are our answer to that momentum with more games easily accessible, helping young athletes see the pathways to playing pro and showing the incredible talent we have in this country.”

Amanda Laing, Nine’s managing director of streaming and broadcast, added: “At Nine, we’re committed to delivering world-class sport to all Australians, while giving our sports partners a powerful platform to grow their audiences.

“Fans can enjoy the very best of women’s basketball in one destination, as we support the next generation of Opals and watch all of our athletes build towards the LA 2028 Summer Olympics on Nine.”

The deal adds to Nine Network’s fast-growing sports portfolio, which includes the Olympic Games, the National Rugby League, rugby union’s English Premiership, the Southern Hemisphere Rugby Championship, the Davis Cup in tennis, and Formula E in motor racing.

The broadcaster also holds a slate of top-tier soccer rights, including England’s top-tier Premier League and Women’s Super League competitions, as well as its FA domestic cup competition, European soccer’s UEFA club competitions, including the top-tier Champions League, second-tier Europa League, third-tier Conference League, and UEFA Super Cup, Germany’s top knockout soccer competition, DFB-Pokal, Japan’s J.League, South Korea’s K League, and the United States’ National Women’s Soccer League.
