TNT Sports, the Warner Bros. Discovery-owned pay-TV broadcaster, has secured domestic rights to women’s soccer’s upcoming World Sevens Football (W7F) competition in a sublicensing deal with streaming platform DAZN.

The deal will see the second edition of the competition, being held in Florida’s Fort Lauderdale from December 5 to 7, aired across the US on the TNT and TruTV linear channels, as well as the HBO Max streaming service.

As part of the deal, TNT Sports will produce English-language coverage for every match and on-site studio shows throughout the three-day tournament, which it will share across Bleacher Report, House of Highlights, and B/R Football.

DAZN was announced as the global media rights partner for the competition upon its launch in March. Aside from broadcasting the games, DAZN also acts as W7F’s production, sales, and marketing partner.

The first edition of W7F was held in Portugal in May, featuring German giants Bayern Munich and English heavyweights Bayern Munich, and the total event had a prize pot of $5 million.

Games are played on a pitch half the size of those used for 11-per-side action and will last for 30 minutes in total, split into two 15-minute halves.

The second edition, meanwhile, will feature clubs from across the Americas, including the US’ Kansas City Current and San Diego Wave FC from the top-tier NWSL, Mexico’s Club America and Tigres UANL, Canada’s AFC Toronto, Brazil’s Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, Colombia’s Deportivo Cali, and Uruguay’s Club Nacional de Football Femenino.

The total prize purse for the upcoming edition will also stand at $5 million.

Since its launch by NJ/NY Gotham FC minority owner Jennifer Mackesy and her husband Scott in March, the W7F has been bolstering its partnerships to cement its future on the sports calendar.

In September, the organizers brought in the Horizon Sports and Experiences (HS&E) firm as a strategic partner to secure tournament sponsors and brand partners.

Later that month, highly experienced Sarah Cummins was appointed as its new chief executive to oversee the development of the competition.
