TG4, the Irish-language public-service broadcaster, has announced a five-year rights extension for the iconic Tour de France cycling race.

The new agreement will see the road cycling event remain free-to-air in Ireland until 2030.

TG4 will continue to provide Irish-language coverage of the Tour de France, with live coverage of every stage available on the main TG4 channel, TG4 Player, and the TG4 App.

The broadcaster’s coverage will also include a daily highlights show with the best of the day’s action each evening.

TG4 has held exclusive live television rights to the Tour de France in Ireland since 2005.

The 113th edition of the Tour de France begins on July 4 in Barcelona and concludes on July 26 with the iconic final stage from Thoiry to Paris Champs-Élysées.

In 2020, Sam Bennett won two stages of the Tour de France and claimed the famous green jersey as winner of the Points Classification, becoming the first Irish rider in 31 years to win the prestigious classification.

In 2025, Ben Healy produced another landmark moment for Irish cycling, claiming the first Tour de France stage win of his career on stage 6. The 24-year-old later became only the fourth Irish rider to wear the famous yellow jersey, following Shay Elliott, Seán Kelly, and Stephen Roche.

Rónán Ó Coisdealbha, TG4 head of sport, said: “TG4 is proud to continue our long-standing association with the Tour de France and to ensure that this iconic event remains available free-to-air for Irish audiences.

“The tour is one of the great annual events in world sport, and Irish viewers have enjoyed some unforgettable moments in recent years. We are delighted to bring every stage of the Tour de France to viewers on TG4 for the next five years.”
