Justin Rose has been unveiled as the first global ambassador and investor in McLaren Golf, the new venture launched by the automotive and motorsport heavyweight organization.

Through the tie-up, the English golfer will be playing with clubs supplied by McLaren Golf, starting this week at the PGA Tour’s Cadillac Championship.

Rose, currently the world’s fifth-ranked player, will also debut the McLaren logo mark on his chest at the tournament and don the brand’s papaya-colored bag on the PGA Tour.

For the past few seasons, the former world number one player has been without a full-time equipment contract.

According to McLaren Golf, Rose has been working with them over the last few years on prototypes with designers and engineers, as well as providing feedback on the equipment.

Rose has now said: “From the beginning, this has been a passion project. I’ve had the opportunity to be involved from the outset - working with the team, testing the clubs, and helping shape what they’ve become.

“That level of involvement, combined with the standards McLaren brings to everything they do, made this an easy decision for me. I’m excited to put the clubs in play and watch the brand flourish.”

The official launch of the McLaren Golf brand is set for Wednesday (April 29), a day before the Cadillac Championship, and is being conducted concurrently with Formula 1’s Miami Grand Prix, taking place on Sunday (May 3).

McLaren announced the launch of its new golf venture last month, led by Neil Howie as chief executive. Howie previously spent over 26 years as president and managing director of the Callaway Golf equipment brand in Europe.
