Spanish soccer's top-tier LaLiga ended its 2024-25 campaign in May with a net profit of €6.2 million ($7.2 million), it has been reported.
The 20-team league also kept its revenue levels above €2 billion by June 30, 2025, Spanish publication Palco23 has reported, citing financial documents it has seen.
Last season's reported profit contrasted with the loss of over €5 million that the division suffered the prior year (2023-24).
The revenue figure is predominantly made up of broadcast rights fees, which amount to €1.872 billion - almost the same number as was generated in 2023-24 (€1.857 billion).
Sponsorship and licensing revenue, meanwhile, is responsible for €130 million - a year-on-year drop of close to 20%. Notably, €61 million of this came from deals struck in the Americas, with only €28.1 million coming in from Spain, and another €20.4 million from the rest of Europe.
From the media rights revenue sum, €1.12 billion was derived from domestic rights fees, with the other €748 million coming in from international broadcast partners.
This report has come out days after LaLiga completed its domestic media rights tender for the 2027-32 cycle, with incumbent broadcasters Telefonica and DAZN contributing to a combined €6.135 billion rights figure across the five years.
Telecoms giant Telefonica, which operates the Movistar Plus+ pay-TV offering, and OTT streaming service DAZN, will once again each split five matches each per gameweek from the top-flight LaLiga competition.
Overall, the new pair of rights deals represents a 9% overall uplift on the current status quo, including 6% growth on LaLiga specific rights (€1.05 billion per season), with Telefonica reportedly paying an average of €527.17 million each season, and DAZN by comparison paying €522.83 million per year.
One change in the new deal is that, while the five games per broadcaster will be maintained, Movistar’s three-matchday exclusive broadcast window will be eliminated, hence why DAZN has increased its commitment.
Palco23 has also reported that LaLiga finished the 2024-25 financial year with 'current liabilities' of €710.4 million.
