Genius Sports nets Serie A betting rights to 2029

The deal also includes betting rights for the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana knockout competitions.

Genius Sports, the sports data and technology heavyweight, has secured a deal with Italian soccer’s top-tier Serie A to deliver official data and video streams to sportsbook partners through its BetVision platform over the next four seasons.

Along with the 20-team league, the deal includes data and streaming rights for the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana knockout competitions, with the Supercoppa now a four-team tournament, between the 2025-26 and 2028-29 campaigns.

As part of the deal, Genius Sports also gains media rights to Serie A, allowing for editorial activities, including broadcast augmentation, match reports, news content, and analysis.

The deal comes almost two months after Serie A launched its tender process to find a new betting rights partner, which closed on June 30.

The last holder of the rights was Stats Perform, the international sports and data technology provider, for the cycle running between 2021-22 and 2023-24.

An intended extension to that tie-up - following a tender for these same rights, issued in mid-2023 - eventually collapsed, and indeed the two bodies are still engaged in legal wrangling after Serie A took Stats Perform to court earlier this year.

Serie A had achieved a 45% increase in the value of its betting rights through the deal with Stats Perform compared to its prior agreement with international sports and entertainment agency IMG.

IMG had held betting rights to Serie A under an international media rights deal for the 2018-19 to 2020-21 cycle that was worth €361 million ($395 million) per annum.

Commenting on the deal, Luigi de Siervo, chief executive of governing body Lega Serie A, said: “Data and technology are transforming football, with growing importance across sport, media, and betting.

“In this rapidly evolving market, this partnership ensures only verified, official data is commercialized — protecting fans, preserving integrity, and defending vital revenue for clubs. It’s a decisive step in our fight for legality and a call to lawmakers to support the rights of leagues and the safety of bettors.”

The rights add to Genius Sports’ burgeoning portfolio of sports properties, which sees it distribute betting data for sportsbooks for the biggest soccer leagues in Europe, including England’s Premier League and France’s Ligue 1, as well as Mexico’s Liga MX, the Argentina Football Association, and the Brazilian Football Confederation.

The new deal comes days after Genius Sports announced a new multi-year betting data rights tie-up with European Leagues, the umbrella body of soccer competitions on the continent, including top-tier leagues from countries such as the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Greece, and Serbia. In total, 18 competitions are covered.

Last month, meanwhile, Genius extended and expanded its major partnership with American football’s NFL through 2029, with the league receiving Genius stock worth $94 million in exchange.

The 2025-26 Serie A season is due to run from 23 August 2025 to 24 May 2026.
