Genesis retains title sponsorship of Scottish Open until 2030

Genesis has held title sponsorship rights to the Scottish Open since 2022.

Korean car manufacturer Genesis will continue as the title sponsor of golf’s Scottish Open until at least 2030 after renewing its deal with the DP World Tour and PGA Tour for another four years.

Genesis has held title sponsorship rights to the Scottish Open since 2022, when the tournament became the first co-sanctioned event by the DP World Tour and PGA Tour.

Its current sponsorship contract was due to expire after this year's edition, which runs between July 10 and 13 at the Renaissance Club in East Lothian as part of the course’s hosting contract running through the 2026 edition.

Jose Munoz, president and chief executive of Genesis, said, in announcing the extension today: “Renewing the Genesis Scottish Open through 2030 is a natural extension of our commitment to the game of golf and the communities it helps around the world.

“As our brand continues to grow globally, the Genesis Scottish Open remains a cornerstone of our efforts to build meaningful connections with fans and elevate the sport at every level.”

Genesis has deep ties to golf, having first partnered with the PGA Tour in 2015, when the brand signed up as an official sponsor of the Presidents Cup in South Korea. A year later, the brand became the title sponsor of the Genesis Invitational in California, one of the tour’s longest-running events.

It then added the Scottish Open to its sponsorship portfolio, as well as several Presidential Cups. Last month, the PGA Tour named Genesis the official vehicle of the tour and its PGA Tour Champions, as well as the official mobility partner of the PGA Tour.

The brand is also a founding partner and the official automotive partner of TGL, the tech-infused golf league founded by golfing legends Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

Its presence within the DP World Tour, meanwhile, includes a title sponsorship of the Korea Championship, which is co-sanctioned with the Korean Professional Golf Association.

The new deal comes as the PGA Tour consolidates its commercial partnerships, having renewed its tie-up with US telecommunications giant AT&T in mid-June. Through that deal, AT&T will continue as the title sponsor of the Pebble Beach Pro-Am PGA Tour event.

Last week, meanwhile, the tour announced Bank of Utah as the first title sponsor of its nascent Black Desert Championship tournament in a three-year deal.
