Extreme H and MBC pen two-year MENA rights renewal

The extension builds on the initial collaboration for the inaugural Extreme H World Cup held in Saudi Arabia last year.

Extreme H, off-road motor racing’s hydrogen-based series, has extended its broadcast partnership with MBC Group, the Saudi-owned media company, for another two years.

The renewed agreement builds on the initial collaboration between the two for the inaugural Extreme H World Cup held in Qiddiya City, Saudi Arabia, in October 2025.

The new deal will see all Extreme H World Cup programming, including live race coverage, highlight packages, and behind-the-scenes features, continue to be broadcast by MBC across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) in English and Arabic.

Ali Russell, managing director of Extreme H, said: “MBC is a powerhouse broadcaster in the region and we are delighted to extend our partnership with them following the incredible success of our debut event.

“This renewed commitment ensures fans across the Middle East and North Africa can continue to enjoy every moment of the FIA Extreme H World Cup in their own language, as it continues to pioneer the future of hydrogen-powered motorsport.”

Extreme H is the successor to Extreme E, the FIA governing body’s all-electric series that debuted in 2021, with last year’s ‘Final Lap’ event on October 4 and 5 marking the end of the electric series and its replacement by the hydrogen-based series.

Extreme E launched in 2021 and enjoyed wide coverage until 2024, when it canceled the remainder of its season after events in Jeddah and Scotland to prioritize its transition to hydrogen.

The FIA had initially planned for Extreme H to become an official world championship for 2026, but in December 2024, it announced the launch of the Extreme H World Cup for 2025 instead.

The nascent hydrogen event features an off-road race format to showcase the viability of hydrogen power as a clean energy solution.

Last month, Sony Pictures Network (SPN), the Indian pay-TV broadcaster, extended its rights to the Extreme H World Cup through the 2028 season.
