DAZN, the global sports streaming service, has acquired rights to motor racing’s Formula 1 (F1) series in Portugal for the next three seasons.

The deal will cover the 2025, 2026, and 2027 campaigns.

DAZN will replace incumbent Sport TV, the dominant Portuguese pay-TV broadcaster whose three-year deal expires at the end of the ongoing 2024 season.

Sport TV had reclaimed the rights from the start of the 2022 campaign after ousting international subscription-based sports broadcaster Eleven Sports.

DAZN acquired Eleven last year and took over its business in Portugal and several other markets.

Eleven, prior to that, held F1 rights for three seasons between 2019 and 2021.

DAZN will provide live streaming of all F1 grands prix, including training sessions, qualifying races, and sprints, with Portuguese commentary.

The agreement also covers rights for the Formula 2, Formula 3, F1 Academy, and Porsche SuperCup competitions.

The deal bolsters DAZN’s relationship with F1 as it already holds rights to the series in multiple countries including Spain and Japan.

Jorge Pavão de Sousa, general director of DAZN Portugal, said: “We want to continue the growth of motorsport in Portugal and, above all, continue to value our product for sports fans.”

DAZN also recently secured rights to Spanish soccer’s LaLiga in Portugal and will continue to be the main UEFA Champions League broadcaster in the country next year, having snapped up the bulk of the rights in the 2024-27 cycle through its acquisition of Eleven.

The OTT platform additionally landed rights to the UEFA Europa League and Conference League in the next three-year cycle.
