Canal Plus, the international pay-TV heavyweight, has secured exclusive rights to Spanish soccer’s top-flight LaLiga in Poland through the 2030-31 season.

Under the five-year agreement, all LaLiga matches will be shown live on Canal Plus sports channels and via the Canal Plus streaming service.

The broadcaster will air all 380 matches per season on its platforms. The 2026-27 campaign is scheduled to kick off on August 14.

Rebeca Díaz, global media rights director at LaLiga, said: “Canal Plus has extensive experience in premium sports broadcasting and a deep understanding of the Polish market.

“This new direct agreement reflects our confidence in Canal Plus as the right partner to continue growing LaLiga in Poland, offering fans comprehensive coverage, high production quality, and engaging storytelling around the competition.”

The deal strengthens the existing relationship between the two parties, with LaLiga also broadcast by Canal Plus in more than 40 countries worldwide, including Sub-Saharan Africa and Haiti.

For the past five LaLiga seasons, rights in Poland were held by the Eleven Sports pay-TV broadcaster. Some of these rights were subsequently sublicensed out to Canal Plus.

LaLiga launched its media rights tender process in Poland in October last year, with a deadline of October 30 initially set for bids.

The league had expected to make a provisional award for these rights on November 6, but has instead taken months to finalize a new deal in the market.

Games from the second-tier LaLiga 2, and from the playoffs determining which team should be promoted to the top-flight, are not included in the new rights package.

Poland's Robert Lewandowski, one of the most iconic players ever produced by the country, recently left LaLiga champions Barcelona to join Major League Soccer outfit Chicago Fire, but Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny still plays for the Catalan giants.

Edyta Sadowska, president and CEO of Canal Plus Polska, added: “Our goal is to further strengthen Canal Plus’ position as the first-choice channel for sports fans.

“We consistently invest in developing our sports offering, focusing on high-quality, diverse competitions and delivering top sporting excitement to viewers, and securing the rights to broadcast all LaLiga matches is another example of this.”

The addition of exclusive LaLiga rights enhances Canal Plus’ premium sports portfolio in Poland, which already includes major competitions such as the UEFA Champions League – which was recently renewed through 2031 – the domestic Ekstraklasa, and the English Premier League.

The broadcast agreement in Poland is the second LaLiga has concluded in Europe in recent days, after securing a new rights deal with Disney+ covering Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and Iceland, as well as a renewal with Norwegian commercial broadcaster TV2 through the 2029-30 season.
