FIBA, basketball’s international governing body, has extended its deal with Enlio, the Chinese sports goods company, through which that firm provides the court surfaces for the FIBA 3×3 World Tour and the FIBA 3×3 World Cup, until 2030.

The renewal of the existing partnership between the pair comes a full three years before the original deal, struck in February 2019, was due to come to an end, meaning this extension is essentially a five-year affair.

The partnership, announced today (April 22), will see Enlio continue to deploy its tailor-made 3×3 court solution, with a material which it claims “ensures excellent support and protection for the players’ body”, giving “players protection against serious bruises,” and “guarantees a better and more stable ball bounce.”

The court surface is also weather-resistant, Enlio says.

Last year, Enlio was the court supplier for the 3×3 event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics (delayed by 12 months because of the coronavirus pandemic).

Andreas Zagklis, secretary-general at FIBA, said: “The partnership with Enlio has been a key step in the professionalization of 3×3 as a fast-paced and spectacular Olympic discipline, through high-technology flooring systems that address players’ needs for safety and high performance.”

Li Yu, Enlio’s chair, added: “We are delighted to extend our partnership with FIBA for 3×3 … We are passionate about the growth of the discipline at the Paris and Los Angeles Games and are excited to be given the chance to bring our contribution for the foreseeable future.”

The 2022 FIBA 3×3 World Cup (both men's and women's editions) will take place between June 21 and 26, in Antwerp, Belgium.

Earlier this month, FIBA appointed international sports and entertainment company IMG as the global master licensee of its flagship Basketball World Cup in 2023.

The multi-year deal will see IMG work with FIBA to develop an extensive range of merchandise for next year’s tournament.

Last November, meanwhile, Enlio extended its long-term sponsorship deal with World Table Tennis, the commercial vehicle of the International Table Tennis Federation.

Enlio has a long-standing relationship with the ITTF, having been a sponsor of the federation since 2013.

The company has supported several events such as the World Table Tennis Championships and the 2018 Youth Olympic Games.
