Paramount and Australia’s A-Leagues extend through 2028-29

All A-League men's and women's games will be available on the Paramount+ streaming service.

The Paramount Australia and New Zealand branch of that global media and content firm has extended its rights tie-up covering Australian soccer's A-Leagues property for the next three seasons.

That agreement, unveiled today, entails Paramount ANZ continuing to cover both the men's (12 team) and women's (11 team) A-League competitions through 2028-29, for what the soccer body says is an increased annual rights fee.

All A-League men's and women's games will be available on the Paramount+ streaming service during the length of the deal, while one men's game will be broadcast live and free-to-air (FTA) every week on Network 10 (fully owned by Paramount Skydance). That latter broadcaster's own streaming site will also house all A-League Women's fixtures.

Paramount+, meanwhile, will also provide highlights of all men's and women's games, as well as full-match replays.

This deal will take the total partnership length between Paramount ANZ and the Australian Professional Leagues (APL) body that runs the two A-Leagues to eight years in total.

The last deal between the pair was made public in May, 2021, and runs through 2025-26 (an option for a three-year extension formed part of that contract).

The APL has said this renewal has come about after "an extensive open market process."

Both men's and women's 2026-27 seasons will begin on October 16, with this extension having been unveiled ahead of the 2025-26 A-League men's final tomorrow, May 23 (the women's season concluded last weekend).

Steve Rosich, the APL's chief executive, commented: "After an extensive open market process which showcased the demand and value of the A-Leagues, we’re really pleased to renew our partnership with Paramount+ and Network 10 - the home of Australian football.”

“The process highlighted that Paramount+ and Network 10 provide us with, not just a commercial growth outcome, but the most free-to-air exposure to the alternate offerings, with Paramount+ providing reach and an affordable streaming service for football fans.”

Adam Cush, director of sport at Paramount Australia and New Zealand, added: "We are incredibly proud to continue our partnership with the Australian Professional Leagues and to build on the strong foundation we have established together."

The A-Leagues have noted that viewing figures on Paramount+ this season are now at record levels, and are up 55% overall from 2021-22.
