Movistar, the Spanish pay-TV operator, has secured broadcast rights for basketball’s EuroLeague Women club competition on the eve of the new season.

Through the three-year deal, coverage will be available on two channels via the Movistar Plus+ platform, Vamos and Ellas Vamosbeginning with the start of the 2025-26 season today and running through the season-ending Final Six tournament taking place in Zaragoza in April.

Telefonica-owned Movistar will broadcast all games featuring Spanish teams Casademont Zaragoza, Valencia Basket, and Spar Girona.

The agreement was struck with FIBA Europe, the regional arm of the international basketball federation, and runs through the end of the 2027-28 season, with the respective editions of the Final Six included in the deal.

Kamil Novak, FIBA executive director Europe, said: “The innovative Final Six tournament last April was a milestone for EuroLeague Women, capping a season in which the competition confirmed its status as one of the fastest-growing sports assets in the world with yet another leap in fan engagement and digital growth.

“EuroLeague Women is therefore a natural match with one of Europe’s biggest television platforms, and we are confident that our collaboration with Movistar will augment the competition’s reach and popularity in Spain, the host country of the first and the next two Final Six tournaments.”

In July, Movistar secured a new five-year extension to its media rights deal with Euroleague Basketball, organizer of the continent’s elite men’s EuroLeague and second-tier EuroCup competitions.

In that same month, however, Movistar saw its long-standing domestic broadcast partnership with Spain’s top-flight Liga ACB come to an end after the league agreed a deal with international OTT platform DAZN.
