The recently-concluded 2025-26 Ashes test cricket series between Australia (the hosts) and England brought in record audiences for domestic streaming partner Kayo Sports.

That platform, part of the Foxtel Group broadcast heavyweight, saw its total audiences across the five test matches soar by 31% year-on-year, in comparison with audiences from the five tests played by Australia against touring nation India in 2024-25.

Australia won the 2025-26 Ashes 4-1, and in total, Kayo Sports recorded 1.3 billion minutes streamed from the series, which ended in Sydney earlier this week.

Foxtel covered the Ashes domestically alongside commercial broadcaster Seven Network, through a seven-year deal struck with Cricket Australia in early 2023 and running between 2024 and 2031.

In comparison with the 2021-22 Ashes series, which was won 4-0 by Australia, this series' audience numbers on Kayo were up by a significant 112%.

Specifically, the test matches in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth generated the top three highest-average audiences ever for tests covered by Kayo.

The match in Adelaide, meanwhile, brought in the highest-ever audience for a test from that venue.

Commenting on the viewing figures, Todd Greenberg, chief executive at the Cricket Australia governing body, said: "The enormous crowds and audiences for the series were beyond even our most optimistic forecasts, and we’re delighted that so many Australians enjoyed the action in brilliant stadiums, on the couch or at the beach."

Steve Crawley, Fox Sports' managing director, added: "It was an exhilarating series with twists that no one could have anticipated, and Australians turned to Fox Sports in record numbers to watch another chapter in one of the world’s greatest rivalries.

"The success of this series on our platforms reflects the deep connection audiences have with our coverage, alongside the strength of cricket across the country."

In terms of domestic cricket remaining on Foxtel platforms during the 2025-26 Australian summer, it is still covering the Big Bash League Twenty20 competition, which has its final scheduled for January 25.

In early December, Foxtel unveiled significant audiences for its coverage (also alongside Seven) of the 2025 Supercars motor racing season.
