Heavyweight international bank JPMorganChase has come on board as a major commercial partner of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The brand, through an agreement unveiled today, becomes both a founding partner of those events and their official bank, as well as the official bank of Team USA, and a Worldwide Olympic Partner (the highest IOC partnership designation).

It thus becomes the first global banking sponsor in the history of the Olympics, with that deal also stretching across the 2030 Winter Olympics in the French Alps.

In addition, the deal encompasses domestic coverage of the games by major broadcast partner NBCUniversal.

Touching on the IOC element of the agreement, that organization's president, Kirsty Coventry, stated: "This partnership reflects our shared values of ambition, excellence, and trust, and will support the Olympic Movement and sport around the world. JPMorganChase’s global reach and expertise will deliver lasting support for athletes and help create a lasting impact in communities worldwide.”

The other TOP IOC sponsors are: AB InBev, AirBNB, Alibaba, Allianz, Coca-Cola, Deloitte, Omega, P&G, Samsung, TCL, and Visa.

Reynold Hoover, LA28's chief executive (CEO), also commented: "The LA28 Games are about championing athletes, expanding opportunity, and leaving a legacy that endures long after 2028. JPMorganChase shares that vision, and we’re grateful for their collaboration as a founding partner committed to athletes, Angelenos, and the future of our communities."

Late last month, LA28 brought in Ticketmaster and Sports Illustrated Tickets (SI Tickets) as the verified resale platforms for the games, in advance of the sales process getting underway.

Consultancy firm Korn Ferry became a founding partner of the event and a supporter of Team USA in late January.

Jennifer Roberts, CEO of the Chase Consumer Banking division, added: "This partnership is a continuation of our centuries-long history of investing in and supporting the dreams of America’s people, businesses, and communities. Our unmatched scale, resources, and expertise will help ensure the benefits of the LA28 Games extend far beyond the closing ceremony, for generations to come.”

Aside from the IOC and LA28, JPMorganChase also has sports sponsorship deals in place across the worlds of tennis (through the US Open), cricket, and golf.
