France Televisions, BeIN to share EHF Euros rights

France Televisions will be taking over from commercial broadcaster TF1 and show France games alongside BeIN.

France Télévisions, the country’s public-service broadcaster, has secured domestic free-to-air rights (FTA) to the men's and women's 2026 EHF European Championships, while BeIN Sports retains the pay-TV rights for the national team tournaments.

Although the split of free-to-air and pay-TV coverage will remain the same as in previous years, France Télévisions will be taking over from commercial broadcaster TF1 and show France games alongside BeIN. TF1 had held EHF rights for seven years.

Some France matches must be shown FTA in the country as they are deemed of major importance (from the main round onwards, or the semi-finals and final) and guarantee significant visibility for the French national teams should they perform well at the Euros. The men's team are the reigning champions, having won the 2024 edition. 

The 24-team men’s EHF Euro, to be held across Denmark, Sweden, and Norway, begins on Wednesday and runs until February 1, with all France matches to be shown on BeIN Sports.

The women’s edition will be played in December 2026 in the Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Turkey. 

The Qatari broadcaster retains its role as the exclusive broadcaster of the French national team games for both the men’s and women's competitions.

Additionally, BeIN has also renewed its deal with the French Handball Federation to broadcast friendly and qualifying matches of the French teams (men and women).

BeIN remains the dominant broadcaster of handball in France after also recently renewing its deal for the top-flight LNH Division 1 (known as the StarLigue) through the 2030-31 season.

France Télévisions’ agreement for the EHF Euros marks the return of handball to public television. Despite the overall financial restructuring of the public media group and the reduction of its sports rights budget, it has managed to secure the rights to handball, which is significantly less expensive than rugby or cycling.

The deal was secured by the Infront sports marketing agency, the EHF’s media and marketing partner for the Euros.

For the upcoming men’s Euro, live coverage has been secured by Infront across 48 territories and 34 live broadcasters.

Across the 24 participating teams, matches will be shown by several major broadcasters, including Viaplay (Sweden, Norway, Finland), TV2 Denmark, ORF (Austria), ARD & ZDF and Dyn Media (Germany), TVE (Spain), RTP (Portugal), Eurosport/TVP (Poland), Arena Sport (Balkans), SRG (Switzerland), and RUV (Iceland) many more.

Global live access will also be available via EHF.tv, subject to local carve-outs.

Beyond rights sales, Infront is also supporting the EHF with host broadcast production and digital strategy.

In addition, the Switzerland-based firm has sold out all sponsorship packages for the biennial men’s EHF Euro, with a mix of returning and new official partners.

The roster includes Lidl, Grundfos, Gorenje, Liqui Moly, Strauss, Würth, Trivago, Falken, Mr Green (Evoke), and Harting, alongside federation and supplier partners such as Dekra, Josera, Select, Hummel, Gerflor, and Benz.

The European Handball Federation recently brought a premature end to its 10-year contract with Infront and will be selling commercial rights to its continental club competitions in-house, but has retained the agency’s services for national team competitions.
