The ÖFB Cup, Austrian soccer’s domestic knockout competition, will receive wider free-to-air coverage after commercial network ProSiebenSat.1 acquired an additional package of rights for the next four seasons.

Starting with the 2026-27 season, a selected match (second choice) from the first round through the quarter-finals will be shown exclusively live and for free on ProSiebenSat.1’s Joyn streaming service and on the Puls 4 linear channel. Streaming coverage of matches will not be behind the Joyn Plus paywall.

The agreement with the Austrian Football Association (ÖFB) runs until the 2029-30 season and includes a total of four exclusive live matches per year.

ProSiebenSat.1 will share rights with ORF, the country’s public service broadcaster, which shows the majority of ÖFB Cup matches.

ORF secured its deal with the ÖFB earlier this month and will retain rights to air all matches from the ÖFB Cup across its channels and platforms (free-to-air, radio, and online), with at least 15 games per season to be broadcast live on its linear channel. ORF will also show at least four matches from the women’s edition.

The broadcaster will have the first pick of games and air matches from the latter stages of the men’s competition.

During the current cycle, the main ORF channel airs the high-profile ÖFB Cup matches, and other fixtures are streamed on its ÖFB TV platform, typically the early-round matches up until the quarter-finals.

ORF’s new rights package with the ÖFB also includes 24 games from the Women’s Bundesliga, all home games of the women’s national team, the Austrian Women’s Cup (at least four match per season live on ORF), and all home games of the Austrian youth national team, with all U21 home games to be shown live on ORF.

“We are ensuring that the competition continues to have a strong, diverse, and freely accessible media platform.”
