Austrian men's soccer’s top-tier Bundesliga (ÖFBL) is launching an invitation to tender the domestic and international media rights for the league's next three-campaign cycle.

The league announced an “open, transparent, and non-discriminatory” process will take place this month, covering both Austrian and worldwide media rights to the 2026-27, 2027-28, and 2028-29 Bundesliga seasons.

The deadline for submissions of the relevant tender documents is April 30, and interested entities can submit them by emailing ausschreibung@bundesliga.at.

The league has said it is looking for submissions from companies that can, “due to their expertise and resources … guarantee the professional exploitation or marketing of the media rights.”

It has also stated that broadcasters, digital platform operators, rights agencies, and telecommunications firms can all apply.

Domestically, the 12-team Austrian Bundesliga is covered live by the dominant pay-television broadcaster Sky Osterreich, in a deal that came into effect in 2022 (and runs through 2025-26). Free-to-air highlights are provided by ORF, the Austrian public-service broadcaster, which also shows four live games per season.

The Sky deal has a total (reported) value of €160 million (at the moment, $176 million) over four seasons.

Internationally, meanwhile, the OneFootball streaming service airs ÖFBL action currently.

In October, the Austrian Bundesliga brought in SN1, the Munich-based boutique media rights consultancy, to advise on its rights strategies for the 2026-27 season onward.

At that point, the consulting firm was tasked with providing the following services to the Austrian league - analysis and evaluation of key commercial growth factors, preparation of a formal tender process, and assessment of direct-to-consumer opportunities “in conjunction with strategic partnerships capable of providing commercial leverage.”

The 2024-25 Austrian Bundesliga began on August 2 and comes to an end on May 25.
