Genius Sports, the international sports data technology company, has partnered with X (formerly Twitter) to supply the social media giant with data from American football’s NFL.

The firm will provide data for NFL Gametime on X, an alternate game feed for fans that combines live scores, insights, clips, news, and creator commentary.

NFL Gametime on X is a dedicated feed sitting alongside the traditional ‘For You’ and ‘Following’ tabs on the platform.

The move builds on X’s more than decade-long partnership with the NFL.

Genius Sports serves as the exclusive distributor of the NFL’s real-time, play-by-play data and statistics for both viewing audiences and betting firms.

The firm has had a partnership with the league since 2021, when it took over from rival Sportradar. This led to the 2023 launch of the BetVision solution, now one of Genius Sports’ flagship offerings.

Last year, the two parties extended and expanded their relationship through the 2029 campaign.

Since the partnership’s inception, the NFL has often been a first mover in terms of adopting Genius Sports innovations, such as the Genius Marketing Suite for which it was the first partner.

Mark Locke, CEO of Genius Sports, has commented: “Nothing rivals the NFL for scale, excitement, and spectacle, with X becoming a crucial platform for fans to follow the biggest league in US sports.

“Our technology is central to the NFL ecosystem, and we’re excited to expand our reach by helping power NFL Gametime on X, delivering real-time insights, scores, and updates.”

Monique Pintarelli, head of global advertising at X, added: “NFL Gametime on X is where the game and the conversation meet.

“Providing fans with official, real-time data together keeps fans closer to every play and gives brands a live environment to be part of the biggest moments in sports.”

In terms of recent activity, Genius Sports last month launched a new prediction markets platform to expand its offering into this growing space.

In August, the company raised its full-year financial outlook for 2026 after beating second-quarter (Q2) guidance with revenue of close to $200 million.

For the period ending June 30, 2026, the firm’s Q2 group revenue came in at $196 million compared to guidance of $185 million. This was up 64.7% from $118.7 million in the previous year.

However, net loss for Genius widened to $76.7 million in the quarter, representing a $22.8 million (or 42.2%) increase compared to a $53.9 million loss last year.
