The annual Sportel Monaco sports business conference returns later this month, with over 2000 executive participants in attendance.

This year's conference at the Grimaldi Forum events and conference center in Monte-Carlo between October 23 and 25 will feature a series of exciting masterclasses, visionary keynotes, innovative presentations, and successful partner case studies around the latest trends revolutionizing the sports and media broadcast industry.

Keynotes will feature the likes of Javier Tebas, president of Spanish soccer’s LaLiga, who will share the latest insights into the league’s developments, while Professional Fighters League chief executive Peter Murray will participate in a fireside chat about the league’s global growth and ambitions to become the ‘champions league’ of mixed-martial arts.

Vital insights on the future of the sports industry will be given throughout the three-day event, via eight Masterclasses with expert panelists discussing everything from content creation and building platforms to India becoming a major global market for sports media and how technology is set to play an even greater role in the industry over the coming years.

Other Masterclass topics will discuss the limits and possibilities of AI for the industry, the surge in FAST channels, and how to make the most of AI tools to enhance production.

Meanwhile, Sportel will host two masterclasses – one on how OTT, streaming, and cloud-based services enable wider distribution and management of content and the second focusing on Italian sports media on a domestic and international level.

The event will aim to give attendees “a truly maximized client experience and numerous networking opportunities that will enable all participants to find the strategic levers to boost their business.”

Sportel said its Monaco 2023 edition is poised to be its biggest event ever, with rightsholders and sellers attending from all continents, in particular from North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

Broken down, 24% of the 2000 participants in attendance will be rightsholders, while 20% will represent broadcasters. Another 12% come from the new technologies and services industry and 10% will be distributors.

Major international sports properties to be attending include soccer's FIFA, UEFA, and Premier League, American football's NFL, basketball's NBA, and motor racing's Formula 1, as well as a myriad of other governing bodies and leagues.

Sports agencies such as Infront, IMG, and Sportfive will also be attending, as will major sports broadcasters such as DAZN, ESPN, and BeIN.
