Golf’s BMW Championship, the penultimate event of the US PGA Tour’s end-of-season FedExCup playoffs, will be played at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey, in 2027.

It will be the first time the tournament is played in the New York metropolitan area, with exact dates to be announced later.

Liberty National previously hosted the Northern Trust, a fellow FedEx Cup playoff event, in 2009, 2013, 2019, and 2021. It was also the site of the Presidents Cup in 2017.

The course has also been added to the women’s LPGA Tour schedule and hosted the inaugural Mizuho Americas Open in June.

Paul Fireman, co-founder of Liberty National Golf Club, said: “It’s a tremendous honor for Liberty National Golf Club to host the 2027 BMW Championship and FedExCup Playoffs.

“Welcoming the world’s top players and passionate fans to Liberty National with the iconic New York City skyline as the backdrop promises to be an incredible event.

“We’ve been fortunate to host a range of high-profile events on a consistent basis, and we’re thrilled to be adding the BMW Championship and future WGA competitions to our stellar lineup of tournaments.”

The BMW Championships has been hosted by various golf clubs since taking the place of the Western Open on the PGA Tour schedule in 2007.

It has been previously played at Olympia Fields and Medinah Country Club in Chicago before being held at Caves Valley near Baltimore in 2021 and Wilmington Country Club in Delaware last year. Future sites include Castle Pines Golf Club in Colorado (2024), a return to Caves Valley (2025), and Bellerive Country Club outside St. Louis (2026).

This year’s edition starts tomorrow (August 17) at Olympia Fields North Course in Illinois.
