US media giant Fox has expanded its NFL rights to the Mexican market with a significant new multi-year live broadcast slate that will begin with the upcoming 2026 campaign.

Through the agreement, Fox will carry weekly Sunday night football fixtures, Thursday night games, and the annual Thanksgiving Day holiday fixtures.

In addition, FOX will carry the complete set of post-season playoff games from the NFC Conference (six in total), the Pro Bowl annual event, and the season-ending Super Bowl showpiece fixture.

Coverage will be disseminated via the Fox and Fox+ linear channels, the Fox One OTT streaming service, and select programming on the free Tubi platform.

This will be supplemented with significant ancillary content and shoulder programming, including four weekly programming blocks centred on promoting the league in the Mexican market.

Speaking on the deal, Fox Latin America executive vice president Carlos Martinez commented: “For FOX, this alliance with the NFL reinforces our historic relationship with one of the most exciting leagues in the world and our commitment to bringing the best sports content to our viewers.

Fox has broadcast NFL action in the US since 1994, and its current agreement in the league’s home market is worth $2 billion through the end of the 2033 campaign.

Martinez continued: “Mexico is a market with an enormous passion for football, and we are proud to offer fans a sizeable NFL package in the country, with a robust content experience, designed to engage audiences throughout the entire year,”

Mexican TV giant TelevisaUnivision has covered the league for the past 60 years through its Canal 5 and Canal 9 linear channels, which will also continue to feature NFL action going forward, courtesy of a renewal back in February.

For the Mexican market, this agreement is also a win for Fox over Rival Lauman Group, which holds the Fox Sports Mexico brand under license and held the NFL rights last season.

This comes as the NFL is making another sustained push for brand growth in the Mexican market.

Mexico City's 87,523-capacity Estadio Azteca (known as the Estadio Banorte for sponsorship reasons) will stage NFL international games in the 2026, 2027, and 2028 campaigns as part of the new three-year hosting deal.

Ten NFL teams currently hold marketing rights for the Mexico territory through the league’s Global Markets Program; these teams are: the Arizona Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Rams, Miami Dolphins, Pittsburgh Steelers, and San Francisco 49ers.

NFL Mexico director general Arturo Olive added on this deal: “We are excited to strengthen our relationship with FOX and expand access to NFL content for fans in Mexico. The passion for football continues to grow in the country, and this alliance will enable us to connect with audiences through broad coverage, original content and a compelling season-long experience.”

Fox's broadcast portfolio in Mexico includes soccer from Mexico’s top-flight Liga MX, England’s Premier League, the pan-European UEFA Champions League, France’s Ligue 1, and more, as well as women’s soccer from Mexico’s Liga MX Femenil, England’s Women’s Super League, France’s Premiere Ligue, and Italy’s Serie A Femminile.

Outside of soccer, Fox also holds the rights for baseball’s Liga Mexicana de Béisbol and Liga Mexicana del Pacifico, motorsports series such as the World Rally Championship, Formula E, World Endurance Championship, Extreme H, and the Nascar Mexico Series, and other niche offerings such as American football’s UFL and padel’s Pro Padel League.
