A US investment fund has bought a controlling stake in the Italian top-tier soccer club Frosinone for a reported €41.5 million ($47.5 million).
The Clara Vista fund, based in New York City, has snapped up 80% of Frosinone, which becomes the latest Italian Serie A side (returning to the top league this coming season) to fall under US ownership.

Clara Vista is already the majority shareholder of newly promoted English Premier League side Ipswich Town and now adds an Italian club to its UK presence.
Maurizio Stirpe, president and former majority shareholder of Frosinone, will retain the central Italian club's presidency for the next two years, as well as a 20% stake. He has led the side since 2003.
Clara Vista will also take a 51% stake in the company that controls the club's infrastructure (for example, its Stadio Benito Stirpe home venue).
For Frosinone, the upcoming 2026-27 Serie A campaign will be their first back in the top-flight after two years in the second-tier Serie B (from which league they were promoted in May).
Clara Vista, meanwhile, has held its majority stake in Ipswich since September of last year (having first invested in the club in March 2024), while it also has plans to move towards acquiring a stake in a top club in Spain's LaLiga next.
Stirpe has cited the fund's endowment as being $250 million.
In terms of the long-term trend of US-based investors taking control of Serie A sides, many of the league's heavyweight clubs – including Roma, Inter Milan, and AC Milan – are now owned by individuals or funds from the US.
For the upcoming 2026-27 season, which will get underway in August, nine of the 20 teams will be majority-controlled by US owners or ownership groups. This includes the other two promoted sides alongside Frosinone – Venezia and Monza.
Serie A and Serie B teams are still relatively cheap to buy or acquire stakes in, compared to teams from England and even some Spanish clubs.
Last season, Serie A was broadcast live in the US by a combination of national network CBS and sports subscription service DAZN.
