Sports-focused video content provider WSC Sports has agreed a deal with the pay-TV giant Sky Deutschland that will see it produce AI-powered video content for the network’s numerous sports offerings.

WSC’s proprietary AI software takes broadcasts and produces short-form video content for use on customers’ social media accounts, streaming platforms, and consumer-facing web outlets.

Alongside leveraging this, Sky Deutschland will also use WSC Sports’ platform for the creation of long-form video content that will be shown across its linear TV channels.

WSC Sports will also produce real-time highlights of sports action from Sky broadcasts to be shown on OneBox, Google’s display box within a result on its search engine that businesses can leverage to provide video content.

WSC Sports chief businesses development officer Aviv Arnon stated: “This is a hugely important partnership for WSC Sports. Sky is known for broadcasting excellence and innovation so it is gratifying that they see the value our technology brings and how it can complement and amplify their award-winning sports content.”

Arnon, who co-founded WSC Sports, continued: “The scale of this partnership is a testament to the advanced capabilities of our platform that enables us to support longer-form content with the same speed and accuracy as short-form social videos.”

This is the latest in a string of deals that WSC Sports has struck with global sports broadcasters.

Most recently, Southeast Europe-based media company United Media agreed a deal for WSC to supply it with localized real-time highlights of a number of sports leagues to showcase on its digital platforms.

The platform also deals directly with sports clubs to create bespoke video content through AI, this is evidenced by its recent partnership with English soccer club Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking to Sportcal at the Leaders conference in London (October 19), WSC Sports head of business Uri Bouche, explained how its AI facilitates video content creation.

Bouche said: “One of the things that we do basically automates the entire process so we can ingest all of this content, we analyze it in the same way that we analyze content in real-time, and then if you want to create a video of all of Spurs’ goals within the past 20 years, you should be able to do it in probably 20 seconds.”
