WSC Sports, the Israel-based sports video content provider, has revealed that it is working with top-tier English soccer team Tottenham Hotspur to streamline the club's content strategy. 

Speaking to Sportcal at the Leaders conference in London (October 19), WSC Sports head of business development Uri Yariv and Tottenham Hotspur director of media, programming, and operations Pierre-Olivier Bouche spoke about WSC’s AI content creation technology.

Bouche said: “Our fans want to know what’s happening at the club in the moment. But they also know that the club was created 140 years ago, that’s why it’s important to tell them about our history. When you create an article or a video, you very often need to use your archives, and looking for footage or imagery. Accessing and utilizing these archives can be very complicated, but with a solution like WSC Sports this process is simplified.”

Yariv went into detail to show how this works, explaining: “One of the things that we do basically automate the entire process so we can ingest all of this content, we analyze it in the same way that we analyze content in real-time, and then if you want to create a video of all of Spurs’ goals within the past 20 years, you should be able to do it in probably 20 seconds.”

Bouche elaborated on how this aids the club’s content creation capabilities, explaining that the club wants to produce bespoke videos showing the most important moments against each and every opponent across a range of its platforms and channels.

In the past, this would have required the editorial team researching the key moments from matches in years gone by. This takes precious production time, as does sourcing the footage from the club’s archives.

He continued: “Now with the [WSC] solutions you can step by step ingest all the content, tag it, and then you can say ‘okay, I want a video of the best [Spurs vs] Fulham moments of the last 30 years or something like this.’”

The technology enables you to quickly select a range of highlights before a producer can layer in their own creative storytelling to create an engaging piece of content. The key is that the producer has more time to focus on the creative approach because the original selection is fully automated.”

Tottenham Hotspur joins a roster of over 350 leagues and broadcasters across the globe, including basketball’s NBA, soccer’s Bundesliga, LaLiga, and Serie A, as well as broadcaster ESPN and DAZN, to have partnered with WSC Sports.

Most recently, Southeast Europe-based media company United Media agreed a deal for WSC to supply it with localized real-time highlights of a number of sports leagues to showcase on its digital platforms.
