Sportdigital Fussball, the German subscription-based TV and internet platform, has secured rights in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland to this year’s Concacaf Gold Cup for men’s national teams in North America, South America, and the Caribbean.
Sportdigital Fussball will air live all 31 matches of the biennial tournament, which runs from June 25 to July 16, starting with the opening game between defending champions USA and Jamacia.
The deal adds to the broadcaster’s coverage of the tournament qualifying, of which the three remaining games are Guadeloupe versus Guyana, Martinique versus Puerto Rico, and St. Kitts against Nevis-French Giana. These take place on June 20 and 21.
This year’s Gold Cup is being held across 15 venues in 14 cities in the US and Canada, with 16 teams taking part, including Qatar, which is participating in the tournament as a guest team.
The final will be staged at SoFi Stadium in California, home of the LA Chargers and the LA Rams, both of American football’s NFL, and this year’s host of the NFL’s iconic Super Bowl. Other notable US venues include Soldier Field in Chicago and NRG Stadium in Houston, both of which will have hosted matches at six previous Golf Cup editions.
BMO Field in Toronto, meanwhile, has been chosen as the competition’s sole Canadian venue, the second time it has hosted Gold Cup action after staging a doubleheader in the group stage of the 2015 edition.
