United Media, the southeast Europe-based media company, has agreed an exclusive multi-year broadcast rights deal with Spanish basketball’s ACB.

Through the new agreement, Spain’s top-tier Liga ACB will be shown on United Media’s Sportklub pay-TV channels in Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and North Macedonia.

The deal sees the league return to Sportklub for the first time in 13 years.

Viewers will have access to nine Liga ACB matches live every weekend, along with the playoffs, Super Cup, and King’s Cup (Copa del Rey).

The Spanish league is regarded as one of the top competitions in Europe and features four teams competing in the top-tier EuroLeague club competition (Real Madrid, Barcelona, Baskonia, and Valencia) and two teams in the second-tier Eurocup (Joventut and Gran Canaria).

The Liga ACB features several players from the Balkans including Mario Hezonja and Dzanan Musa at Real Madrid, Nikola Kalinić (Barcelona), Vanja Marinković (Baskonia), Jovan Kljajić, Oliver Stević, and Dan Duščak in Gran Canaria, and Ante Tomić in Joventut.

Earlier this year, United Media extended its exclusive broadcast rights agreement with Euroleague Basketball for another five years.

Nemanja Simeunović, director of Sportklub, said: “We are thrilled to have brought back the strongest national basketball competition in Europe to Sportklub, thereby expanding our basketball offering that includes the EuroLeague, EuroCup, various national championships, as well as FIBA World and European Championships. We will give the Liga Endesa the recognition it deserves, as it will be one of our standout attractions every weekend.”

Jose Miguel Calleja, the executive director of ACB, added: “Partnering with Sportklub aligns with our ambition to secure exclusive placement for our content and ensure it receives the recognition it deserves. Sportklub is renowned for having the best basketball coverage, and we believe ACB should be a part of it.

“The region covered by Sportklub is known for its exceptional basketball players and the immense significance placed on basketball, including following the best players and matches. Therefore, we are confident that the audience will thoroughly enjoy the intense battle for the championship title.”
