Spanish soccer’s top-tier LaLiga has consolidated its broadcast presence across the Nordic region after securing a new rights deal with Disney+ covering Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and Iceland, as well as a renewal with Norwegian commercial broadcaster TV2 through the 2029-30 season.
Media giant Disney’s deal will see every LaLiga match stream live on the Disney+ streaming service via international sports broadcaster ESPN from the 2026-27 to 2029-30 seasons.

Subscribers to Disney will gain access to all 380 LaLiga matches per season as part of their subscriptions, with coverage to include the Copa del Rey domestic cup competition, as well as studio programming, expert analysis, and selected fixtures with local-language commentary.
LaLiga president Javier Tebas said: “Disney+ is one of the world’s leading streaming platforms, and we believe this collaboration represents a major step forward for LALIGA in the Nordic region.
“It will allow us to bring Spanish football closer to new audiences, strengthen our presence in an important European market, and continue growing the connection between LaLiga and fans across the region.”
A number of prominent Nordic players ply their trade in LaLiga, including Atletico Madrid's Alexander Sorloth (Norway), FC Barcelona's Andreas Christensen (Denmark), Celta Vigo pair Williot Swedber and Carl Starfelt (both of Sweden), and Alaves defender Ville Koski (Finland).
The deal builds on Disney’s partnership with LaLiga in the US, with ESPN currently the English and Spanish-language home of the top-tier league through 2028-29.
ESPN also provides LaLiga coverage to audiences across South America. In Brazil, Disney+ provides “extensive weekly coverage” of the league, while in Spanish speaking South America, including Argentina, live matches are shown on ESPN and Disney+. In Mexico, LaLiga can be watched live on Disney+ with ESPN.
Karl Holmes, general manager of Disney+ EMEA, said: “Loved for its intensity, iconic clubs and moments of brilliance, LALIGA is one of the true jewels of the football calendar and consistently creates the kind of drama and excitement football fans want to be part of week after week.
“We’re looking forward to bringing those experiences to Disney+ customers in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and Iceland.”
Meanwhile, LaLiga has also renewed its rights agreement in Norway with commercial broadcaster TV2 through the 2029-30 season, extending a deal that has been in place since 2021-22.
The league said the renewal “underlines the importance of continuity, local expertise and broadcaster commitment in a market where TV2 has helped strengthen engagement with Spanish football among Norwegian fans.”
The new rights add to Disney’s growing set of valuable sports rights in Europe, having recently secured rights to the top-tier continental UEFA Champions League in Sweden from 2027-28 and a renewed deal to provide coverage of the second-tier UEFA Europa League and third-tier Conference League tournaments in Denmark and Sweden.
The media giant also holds rights to LaLiga in the UK and Ireland, and the UEFA Women’s Champions League across the continent.
Alongside soccer, ESPN on Disney+ will also carry US sports in selected European markets, including basketball’s NBA and American football’s NHL from the 2026-27 season.
Most recently, Disney+ leveraged its global rights to US college basketball’s iconic annual March Madness NCAA National Championship, showcasing the 2026 editions of the two tournaments across a host of markets.
Disney is the global rightsholder outside the US for both the men’s and women’s March Madness tournaments in a money-spinning deal worth $920 million that will run through 2031-32.
Meanwhile, the deal comes three months after Disney rolled ESPN out on Disney+ across 53 European territories and the Asia-Pacific region to house its portfolio of sports streaming rights alongside ancillary content, shoulder programming, films, and documentaries, and more.
ESPN is offered at no extra cost to Disney+ subscribers, and this latest tie-up means it is now available across around 100 international markets in total, also including the Americas.
The service has been rolled out across all European markets, as well as select APAC territories – Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
