Valencia in Spain has been named the host city for the 2027 European Athletics Indoor Championships.

This will mark the second time the championships will be in Valencia, having also been staged there in 1998.

The city also hosted the 2008 World Athletics Indoor Championships.

Both championships were held at the Luis Puig Velodrome, which will also stage the 2027 event.

European Athletics president Dobromir Karamarinov said: “The Spanish federation’s ability to organize outstanding continental and global athletics events goes almost without question and Valencia has been a host city for several major championships in the past, so we know it has a proven and reliable infrastructure.”

Spain has hosted the event on five previous occasions, with four in its capital Madrid.
