US basketball’s NBA is expanding its presence in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region by opening an office in Singapore, the league announced today (April 26).
The office will add to the NBA’s existing activities and efforts in the region, which currently include youth development programs, interactive events for fans, selling merchandise, and various social responsibility efforts.
In Singapore, the league is broadcast by telecoms firm StarHub, through a multi-year deal struck in October 2019.
The league has also claimed that its streaming service, NBA League Pass, has recorded double-digit subscriber growth over the last three seasons in the wider APAC region.
Across APAC, the NBA has staged 17 regular and pre-season games in its history, most recently in 2019, and claims to have over 35 million social media followers in the region.
Scott Levy, managing director of NBA Asia, said: “Over the past two decades, Asia-Pacific has proven to be a major growth region for the NBA.
