Steve Cannella, editor in chief of Sports Illustrated, said: “SI TV is a new platform for what SI has always done: tell the best stories in sports with authoritative voices and unique access.

“We’re excited to expand that mission into the FAST space. From news-based analysis to longer-form storytelling, SI TV will feature our signature content in reimagined ways for new audiences.”

The development of the new streaming channel is the latest vertical added by Sports Illustrated after the launch of its Sports Illustrated Tickets marketplace.

Meanwhile, France Televisions, the domestic public-service broadcaster, will launch a new sports channel on its digital platform ahead of the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina.

The new channel will feature an interactive dimension inspired by the Twitch platform and aims to offer around 2,000 hours of live sports coverage in 2026.

Launching on February 4, the online service will allow online viewers to interact live with commentators and analysts through a live chat.

The channel will initially be dedicated to the Winter Olympics, but will continue operating after the games, broadcasting major sports events already covered on the public broadcaster’s traditional channels, such as the French Open tennis grand slam and road cycling’s iconic Tour de France.

It will also offer more comprehensive coverage of other events, including the World Figure Skating Championships and the European Swimming Championships.

The Winter Olympics will have widespread coverage on France Televisions across its France 2 and France 3 linear channels.

The games will be held between February 6 and 22, while the Winter Paralympics will run from March 6 to 15.
