Nine Network, the Australian commercial broadcaster, has expanded its Olympic portfolio after agreeing a three-year commercial sponsorship deal with the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) governing body.

Under the agreement, Nine becomes an official partner of the Australian Olympic team and will help support and promote athletes for the duration of the contract.

The broadcaster will also gain cross-platform marketing rights and special access to content and athletes that it will use to push across its television, audio, and streaming products.

The partnership covers the Paris 2024, Los Angeles 2028, and domestic Brisbane 2032 Summer Olympics, as well as the 2026 Milano Corina and 2030 Winter Games.

Other events covered include this year’s Pacific Games in the Solomon Islands and the World Beach Games in Bali, Indonesia, as well as the 2024 Olympic Youth Winter Games in Gangwon, South Korea, and the 2026 Olympic Youth Summer Games in Dakar, Senegal.

Nine chief executive Mike Sneesby said: “We look forward to working with the AOC over the coming years to help support our athletes as they strive for Olympic glory.

“On any given day, countless Australian children are playing sports dreaming of one day competing on the world’s ultimate stage. With Brisbane 2032 less than a decade away, our commitment to the Olympic movement is to shine a light on those dreams, share athletes’ stories and help grow the Olympic spirit.”

The deal comes after Nine secured exclusive domestic rights for all summer and winter Olympic Games until 2032 under a $220-million deal with the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which will see it provide coverage for the five flagship events across its television, radio, and digital assets.

It replaced fellow commercial broadcaster Seven West Media, which provided coverage for three summer games from 2016 to 2020 and the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China.

In May, Nine cemented itself as the home of the country’s Paris 2024 coverage by acquiring exclusive domestic rights for next year’s Paralympic Games, which runs from August 28 to September 8.

AOC chief executive Matt Carroll said: “We are delighted to have Nine on board as a sponsor and we welcome its commitment to the AOC and our Australian Olympic team.

“The AOC looks forward to a long and fruitful collaboration with Nine’s broadcast deal with the IOC taking them through to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.”
