The Cleveland Guardians, of North America’s Major League Baseball (MLB), have extended their stadium naming rights deal with Progressive Insurance through the 2036 campaign.

Through a major long-term renewal unveiled yesterday, the Guardians’ home venue in Cleveland, Ohio, will continue to be known as Progressive Field for the next 13 seasons.

Indeed, there is also a clause for the agreement to be automatically extended through the 2041 campaign if the Guardians’ lease for the ballpark is itself also extended for that period.

The firm will also carry on as the Guardians’ official insurance provider.

The deal has been announced with the Guardians (who changed their name from the Cleveland Indians in 2021) set to play their opening home game of the 2024 MLB season on Monday, April 8, against the Chicago White Sox.

Through the naming rights extension, new brand signage will be “incorporated around the exterior of the ballpark,” particularly at the home plate entrance.

Progressive Insurance first came on board as the ballpark’s naming rights partner in 2008, before which the venue was known as Jacobs Field.

Progressive Field is currently going through significant reconstruction.

Brian Barren, president of business at Cleveland Guardians, has now said: "As we continue to upgrade and reimagine our ballpark, continuing our partnership with Progressive gives our fans a consistent ballpark name with a worldwide brand, which is also a pillar of the northeast Ohio community.”

The Guardians failed to make the post-season playoffs last year.
