Louis Vuitton, the French luxury goods company, has been named as the official trophy travel case supplier of the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France.

The official trophy travel case for the tournament’s Webb Ellis Cup was revealed during the test match between France and New Zealand last weekend (20 November).

The deal continues a relationship between the pair, with the brand having created its first Rugby World Cup case in 2015.

Louis Vuitton has also made travel cases for trophies for soccer's Fifa World Cup, North American basketball's NBA, esports’ League of Legends, motor racing’s Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, tennis’ Davis Cup and Roland Garros and sailing’s America’s Cup.

This deal is the latest in a series of France 2023 sponsorships announced this month, including with Land Rover, Mitsubishi Electric, BKT Tires and GMF.

Michael Burke, chairman and chief executive of Louis Vuitton, said: “With this new official Trophy Travel Case, Louis Vuitton is both happy and proud to continue its long-time commitment with rugby, highlighting its 160-year tradition of creating remarkable trunks.”

Claude Atcher, chief executive of France 2023, added: “This official travel case is a wonderful representation of Louis Vuitton’s unique expertise and craftsmanship. We are honoured that it will hold the Webb Ellis Cup from now until the end of the tournament in 2023.”
