Chinese consumer electronics brand Hisense has been appointed by European soccer’s UEFA governing body to serve as the exclusive official video assistant referee (VAR) screen provider for the upcoming Euro 2024 national teams competition.

Hisense is the first-ever exclusive VAR screen rightsholder, providing screens with which referees will conduct refereeing assessments across the 51-game tournament, which will also include UEFA’s semi-automated offside solution.

This partnership, an expansion of Hisense’s existing deal with UEFA, also includes sponsorship inventory for Hisense, with the electronics manufacturer’s branding and designs to be shown on screens in-stadium and at the game site during VAR checks,

Hisense has been a partner of UEFA since 2016 in what was initially a two-year tie-up, with UEFA Euro 2024 now the third consecutive Euros – after 2016 in France and 2021 across the continent – for which the two have collaborated.

In September 2023, Hisense and UEFA renewed the international-level partnership through 2026, meaning that it will at the very least also cover UEFA qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup 2026 competition, the UEFA Nations League, the Under-21 Euros, the quadrennial Finalissima match featuring the European champion taking on its South American counterpart, and Futsal Euro events.

Hisense is also a sponsor of club-level European soccer, having served as an official partner of French top-tier champions Paris Saint-Germain since 2020, and will continue as such through to the end of the upcoming 2024-25 season.
