FedEx, the international delivery company that is presently a sponsor of European club soccer’s second-tier Uefa Europa League, is stepping up to become a partner of the elite Champions League in the next cycle.
It was confirmed today that FedEx will be a sponsor of the Champions League from 2021 to 2024, in a deal that also includes rights to the Uefa Super Cup, Uefa Youth League finals and Uefa Futsal Champions League finals.
FedEx was expected to be elevated to the Champions League having been a partner of the Europa League for the past six years.
It already has a four-year deal for Uefa national team competitions, signed in 2019, which includes competitions including the delayed Euro 2020, to be held across the continent in June and July of this year, and the Nations League finals.
Uefa and Team Marketing, the governing body’s agency partner for club competitions, have been concluding sponsorship deals for the cycle starting with the 2021-22 season, and FedEx joins Dutch brewing giant Heineken, soft drinks and snack foods giant PepsiCo and international credit card provider Mastercard as confirmed partners of the Champions League.
Guy-Laurent Epstein, the Uefa marketing director, said on Wednesday: “FedEx has proved to be an incredibly valued Uefa partner. We are delighted they are continuing their evolution with us, which started in 2015 and now sees them supporting our flagship club competition – the Uefa Champions League.
