US sports betting company FanDuel has announced a new partnership with the Carolina Panthers franchise of American football’s NFL.

The multi-year deal will see FanDuel serve as the new official sports betting partner of the Panthers, with the pair set to collaborate on content production across each side’s digital and social media channels, as well as on marketing.

Bank of America Stadium, the Panthers’ home ground, will also be fitted with digital FanDuel branding, and the betting firm will activate for events around the stadium.

Mike Raffensperger, FanDuel's chief commercial officer, has stated of the partnership: "Bringing FanDuel to sports fans across North Carolina is an important moment for our business, and we are thrilled to be able to work with the Carolina Panthers to introduce their fanbase to America's #1 sportsbook."

FanDuel’s deal will be inaugurated on March 11, when mobile sports betting will become legal in the state, with FanDuel able to accept pre-registrations from prospective customers prior to the date.

There are a maximum of eleven online sports betting sites able to operate in the state, and in order to attain a license each must partner with a professional sports franchise, league, golf club, or motorsports track, in the state.

FanDuel was already able to operate in the state courtesy of its partnership with professional golf’s PGA Tour, however, the new partnership with the Panthers will prevent other competing firms to enter into a tie-up with the state’s most high-profile sports franchise.

Upon the opening of mobile betting in the state, North Carolina will become the 20th state in the US where FanDuel is active as an online sportsbook, extending its record as the most widely available sportsbook in the country.

This does not include the US capital of Washington D.C., where the sportsbook is also active, with FanDuel also available in North America in Ontario, Canada.

Other states where FanDuel operates as a sportsbook include Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Ohio.

FanDuel is active in a non-sportsbook capacity in 44 out of the 50 US states, operating a fantasy sports service in these territories.

FanDuel’s expansion across the US has been powered by high-profile sports partnerships. In August the bettor agreed a multi-year partnership with stock car racing’s Nascar to become an authorized gaming operator for the racing series.
