F1 Academy, the top motor racing series’ all-female development category, has announced a new partnership with US financial services provider American Express (Amex).

Amex will serve as an official partner of the series for the remainder of the 2024 season.

Beginning with the second round of the touring series in Miami from May 3 to 5, Amex will activate around the F1 Academy season to promote its range of banking products.

Amex will activate the sponsorship with an event for Amex card members to celebrate women in business and sport. The firm will also work around the racing round to promote one local female-founded small business in the Miami area.

The #17 car on the circuit across the Miami race weekend, driven by British driver Jessica Edgar and operated by Rodin Motorsport, will feature Amex branding, with Edgar sporting an Amex-branded racing suit.

Speaking on the partnership, F1 Academy series managing director Susie Wolff stated: “American Express is a worldwide leader in the payments space and a powerful advocate for small businesses and entrepreneurs globally, and we’re proud to welcome them to F1 Academy as an official partner.”

The visibility that F1 Academy can offer partners is larger than ever with the series having recently secured a new international deal that will see it broadcast in over 160 international territories.

A total of 23 broadcasters will air the 2024 season following its inaugural television broadcast at the 2023 season finale, at the Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas.

There will be a significant expansion in coverage this year, F1 Academy has outlined, with a live international feed and highlights program for all seven events on the calendar.
